In a recent discussion, Montenegro\u2019s President Jakov Milatovi\u0107 accused Prime Minister Milojko Spaji\u0107 of being untruthful regarding his acquaintance with Do Kwon, the debated co-founder of Terraform Labs, amid critical events leading up to Kwon\u2019s arrest in Podgorica.<\/p>\n

Milatovi\u0107 stated<\/a> that Spaji\u0107 professed not to know Kwon during his arrest, in spite of previous dealings involving 750,000 Terra Luna tokens and several meetings with Kwon.<\/p>\n

Recalling a party gathering from March of last year, Milatovi\u0107 mentioned that he directly questioned Spaji\u0107 about his knowledge of Kwon. He emphasized that Spaji\u0107\u2019s denial happened in front of numerous party members, including current officials, raising doubts about Spaji\u0107\u2019s honesty, particularly concerning his involvement in the cryptocurrency industry.<\/p>\n

Furthermore, Milatovi\u0107 highlighted that Spaji\u0107 had introduced him to George Cottrell, a British individual facing severe charges in the U.S., such as money laundering and fraud. The president stressed the need for transparency and accountability, insisting that the nation should not cultivate a negative international reputation.<\/p>\n

This situation unfolds against the backdrop of the Montenegrin Court of Appeal\u2019s recent ruling to extradite Do Kwon to South Korea, ignoring a separate request from the United States.<\/p>\n

The presiding judge determined that South Korea\u2019s extradition request takes priority over that of the U.S. due to Montenegro\u2019s prior extradition treaty with South Korea, which was submitted first.<\/p>\n

Kwon has faced serious legal scrutiny since the downfall of his blockchain project, leading to significant investor losses. The court\u2019s decision, made public on August 1, represents a pivotal juncture in a protracted legal struggle that started with Kwon\u2019s arrest at Podgorica airport in March 2023.<\/p>\n
