A common way to assess this activity is by counting the number of commits developers make to a repository. However, this method can be misleading since commits can come from a forked project, not representing the original developer\u2019s work.<\/p>\n

To address this, Santiment utilizes a metric based on \u201cevents,\u201d which reflect actual changes made by developers. In this system, forking only counts as a single event, ensuring that only new contributions are tallied, leading to a more precise view of development input.<\/p>\n
