The Reserve Bank of India (RBI) supports CBDCs as they provide a safer alternative that can still meet the financial inclusion goals typically connected with <a rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\" href=\"https:\/\/www.coingecko.com\/\">cryptocurrency<\/a>.<\/p>\n<h2><span class=\"ez-toc-section\" id=\"Increasing_Popularity_of_CBDC_in_India\"><\/span>Increasing Popularity of CBDC in India<span class=\"ez-toc-section-end\"><\/span><\/h2>\n<p>India introduced its <a rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\" href=\"https:\/\/www.forbes.com\/advisor\/in\/investing\/digital-rupee\/\">digital rupee<\/a>, the e\u20b9, in 2022, attracting over 5 million users and 16 banks. This initiative is gaining momentum and could significantly shape the future of digital finance within the country. The digital rupee is currently being utilized in specific pilot programs.<\/p>\n<p><\/p>\n<p>According to RBI Governor Shaktikanta Das, the goal is to provide more efficient and secure financial services to underprivileged sections of society.
