In response to a query about whether this was achieved on the testnet, Hoskinson explained that this was part of the \u201cHydra Doom\u201d framework: every game frame counts as a transaction, and as players engage, that\u2019s what generates the output. This increase in transactions coincides with the launch of the $100,000 Hydra Doom Tournament, organized by Input Output.<\/p>\n

Cardano Launches $100,000 Doom Tournament<\/h2>\n

On December 2, during preliminary testing, Cardano achieved 28,500 tps. Hoskinson had already noted the network\u2019s impressive capability, stating, \u201cCardano is running some BIG loads right now.\u201d This tournament not only provides a competitive gaming environment but also serves as a live demonstration of Cardano\u2019s Layer 2 scaling solution, Hydra.<\/p>\n

According to an announcement<\/a> from Input Output, the goal of the tournament is to \u201cunite thousands of players globally in a competitive display of the classic game Doom running on the Cardano blockchain, enhanced by the innovative scaling solution, Hydra.\u201d Players will compete against AI bots crafted to test Hydra\u2019s limits in speed and throughput, showcasing its robust performance and security capabilities.<\/p>\n

The event features well-known personalities from gaming and entertainment, including Twitch streamer PotasticP, hip-hop artist MIMS\u2014famous for the song \u201cThis Is Why I\u2019m Hot\u201d\u2014former DOOM 3 champion and esports Hall of Famer Fatal1ty, and actor Chris Pang from \u201cCrazy Rich Asians.\u201d Esteemed hosts include esports figures Dgon and Raynday.<\/p>\n

Hoskinson highlighted the tournament\u2019s mix of innovation and competition, stating they are \u201cthrilled to host the Hydra Doom tournament, welcoming players from around the world for an unforgettable showdown.\u201d He emphasized that the event is not solely about competition or the significant cash prizes; it\u2019s a unique opportunity to be part of something groundbreaking.<\/p>\n
