During a recent video discussion<\/a>, Hoskinson pointed out a critical observation: the lack of infrastructure in Ripple\u2019s ecosystem that generates sustainable demand for the XRP token. He emphasized that Ripple has been known to liquidate substantial portions of its XRP reserves to support business endeavors, which raises questions about the long-term viability of the token for investors.<\/p>\n

Furthermore, he claimed that Ripple\u2019s approach tends to prioritize the company’s growth over enriching XRP holders. He alleged that Ripple has reserved up to 80% of the XRP supply for its operational needs, which he believes undermines the community\u2019s collective investment.<\/p>\n

On the functionality aspect, Hoskinson remarked that while Ripple utilizes the XRP Ledger (XRPL) to conduct operations, the absence of key features such as native staking limits the token’s utility. He argued that such a structure primarily benefits Ripple, as they capitalize on fluctuations in the price of XRP without any reciprocation to the investors.<\/p>\n

He elaborated further by indicating that Ripple’s strategy appears to focus on elevating the XRP price temporarily to fund significant asset acquisitions rather than fostering a robust ecosystem that benefits all stakeholders. This model, he argued, leads to a lopsided value transfer that leaves XRP holders without meaningful returns.<\/p>\n

Notably, recent acquisitions such as Hidden Road and GTreasury have rebranded to Ripple Prime and Ripple Treasury, respectively. Earlier this year, CEO Brad Garlinghouse reassured investors about XRP’s central role in Ripple’s future, claiming it to be the “North Star” guiding their mission to enable the internet of value.<\/p>\n

<\/span>The Disconnect: Ripple and XRP Investors<\/span><\/h2>\n

Hoskinson highlighted a troubling disconnect between Ripple’s operations and the interests of XRP holders. He criticized the lack of transparency and commitment from Ripple, particularly in terms of buybacks or reinvestment strategies that could benefit existing XRP investors. Instead, he noted, the continuous selling of XRP has become the norm.<\/p>\n

Moreover, he pointed out that XRP holders do not enjoy the same rights or privileges as shareholders in terms of equity or profit-sharing options. Drawing a parallel to Tether, he likened Ripple’s business model to one where the company accumulates value with little to no distribution back to the user base.<\/p>\n

Despite these critiques, Ripple continues to enhance its offerings by integrating XRP more deeply into its product lines, including the latest implementation of native XRP features on Ripple Treasury.<\/p>\n
