Brandt distinguishes between Bitcoin and XRP, describing Bitcoin as a “store of value” while labeling XRP as primarily a transactional asset. He pointed out that while Bitcoin is speculative, it carries significant store-of-value attributes. In a striking critique, he referred to XRP as a “dumb coin,” emphasizing his belief in the fundamental differences between these two cryptocurrencies.<\/p>\n
During a recent interview, Brandt was prompted about whether his views shifted following Ripple’s partnerships with financial institutions. He maintained that skepticism, particularly focusing on the total supply of XRP, which he believes raises concerns about its future expansion. Although he acknowledged that XRP serves as an efficient tool for transactions, he argued that such utility does not inherently confer value.<\/p>\n
To illustrate his point, Brandt compared XRP to the US dollar, stating that while the dollar is effective in transactions, it is not expected to increase in value simply because of its usability. In contrast to his stance on XRP, Brandt expressed a more favorable outlook on Ethereum and Solana, identifying them as valuable assets with potential for higher valuation in the future.
