Notwithstanding these shortcomings, the IMF decided to grant an exception to some of these requirements, thereby approving the distribution of $138 million in funds.<\/p>\n<p>IMF officials highlighted that the latest documentation from El Salvador indicated that the recent Bitcoin acquisitions were funded through private donations rather than public resources. Additionally, the IMF acknowledged the country&#8217;s advancements in key areas such as anti-money laundering efforts, fiscal transparency, and the privatization of the state-operated Chivo e-wallet.<\/p>\n<p>In a statement, the IMF emphasized the importance of ongoing reforms: \u201cSignificant progress has been made in financial sector reforms, fiscal transparency, anti-money laundering and anti-terrorist financing reforms, and the transfer of majority ownership and control of the state e-wallet Chivo to a private operator.
