A developer working on the XRP Ledger, known by the alias “Vincent Van Code,” has announced plans for an innovative “immutable forever file storage” system, with a minimum viable product (MVP) testnet expected within the next two months. The project has transformed from a basic document notarization approach to a more comprehensive, compliance-driven solution that enhances control via popular wallet platforms.
Introducing a Revolutionary File Storage Solution
In a recent announcement, the developer elaborated on the project’s evolution, initially focused on notarization through on-chain hashing linked to legal documents. “This initiative allows for official documentation to be recorded on the XRPL,” he remarked. “A document can be loaded onto our servers, after which its hash is transmitted to the XRP Ledger, accompanied by a unique crypto-based signing method that confirms the identity of all involved parties.”

The vision targets enterprise clients first, before catering to a wider audience that includes individuals needing to secure various records: “Our service will cater to businesses and legal entities initially, with future expansions to cover diverse document types—medical histories, tax documents, and more.” He also shared insights on the pricing model: “We’ll implement a tiered structure, starting from a free entry-level option to paid tiers that include Know Your Customer (KYC) features. All operations will be executed on the XRP Ledger, and I invite your feedback on this concept.”
Recently, Van Code announced significant progress, stating that the team had commenced coding and expanded their objectives from merely notarization to ensuring long-term file preservation with a strong emphasis on regulatory compliance. “Update: we are now actively coding. Our current direction has shifted from our original plan, targeting a far more impactful problem,” he explained.
Key features of this new file storage service will include:
- Immutable compliance: Adhering to standards like SOC2t2 and ISO27001 for security.
- Global redundancy: Files stored across multiple locations worldwide to ensure durability.
- Wallet control: Links all files to your wallet, with options for both individual and enterprise-grade file storage.
He affirmed the aim to launch a testnet soon, highlighting the project’s distinguishing factors: “We are on the path to introducing the first-ever XRPL-based immutable file storage system. This is truly revolutionary. Your thoughts and suggestions are invaluable to us, and we anticipate the MVP testnet to be ready in approximately two months.”
The outlined strategy presents a two-step approach: starting with a preliminary test phase allowing users to experiment with file uploads via a temporary wallet, followed by the formal MVP testnet that will integrate XRPL features such as identity verification and digital signatures. This model also promises a straightforward, retention-based fee structure for ultra-long-term storage solutions.
As of this writing, the price of XRP stands at $2.90.
