BlackRock’s Crypto Assets Rise 63% with $7.9 Billion Increase

BlackRock Sees Surge in Digital Asset Value Amid Crypto Recovery

BlackRock, a leading global asset management firm, reported a significant rebound in its cryptocurrency fund performance during the third quarter of 2026. The company’s total digital assets under management reached $79.6 billion, a notable increase from $48.8 billion at the end of June. This represents a remarkable growth of approximately 63% over the three-month period.

Factors Behind the Growth

The increase in asset value was attributed primarily to the recovery in cryptocurrency prices. Of the total $30.8 billion growth observed, about $22.9 billion originated from price appreciation. Additionally, investor confidence appeared to strengthen, as evidenced by a net inflow of $7.9 billion into BlackRock’s digital asset products during this timeframe.

This inflow effectively offset an outflow of approximately $2.2 billion that had occurred in the first half of the year, suggesting a resurgence in institutional investor interest after a tumultuous start to 2026.

Year-Over-Year Comparison

Despite the recent gains, BlackRock’s crypto asset holdings remain below last year’s levels. At the same time last year, the company managed around $104 billion in digital assets, marking a 23% decrease from the current figure. In the past twelve months, there has been a net inflow of $6.3 billion into assets. However, this was overshadowed by price declines leading to an estimated loss of $30.6 billion in total asset value.

Financial Performance

During the third quarter, BlackRock generated $39 million in fees and securities lending income from its digital asset products, which include the iShares Bitcoin Trust. However, the company has opted not to disclose specific asset and cash flow figures for the Bitcoin fund, leaving the detailed breakdown of the total $79.6 billion somewhat ambiguous.

As interest in cryptocurrency continues to evolve, BlackRock’s results offer a critical insight into the shifting landscape of digital asset investment among institutional players.
