Ripple Introduces Perpetual Swap Trading for Real-World Assets
Ripple Prime, the institutional brokerage arm of Ripple, has officially launched perpetual swap trading services for a diverse range of real-world assets. This initiative, announced today, includes trading for stocks, indices, ETFs, metals, energy, and currencies, with a focus on expanding trading options for institutional clients.
Overview of the New Trading Service
The new offering allows trading across more than 100 reference markets, enabling activities that can be conducted around the clock, including weekends. Ripple states that this feature aims to enhance liquidity and access for institutional investors.

Among the first clients to utilize these new trading products is market maker Virtu, highlighting the immediate interest among institutional players. In these transactions, Ripple Prime acts as the counterparty, linking the swap values to corresponding contracts listed on Hyperliquid by Trade.xyz.
Use of Collateral and Coverage
Clients have the option to utilize Ripple’s dollar stablecoin, RLUSD, as collateral, subject to eligibility criteria based on their specific jurisdictions. Ripple’s service also allows for the evaluation of collateral necessities across various asset classes within a single portfolio, simplifying the trading process for institutional clients.
Future Expansion Plans
While currently operating under a CIV BVI license, Ripple Prime has expressed intentions to expand its reach to additional regions. However, no specific timelines have been announced for these developments, leaving clients looking forward to future opportunities.
This launch underscores Ripple’s commitment to providing innovative solutions in the digital asset space while allowing for greater flexibility in trading real-world assets through derivatives.
