US President Donald Trump recently addressed the significant cyberattack on the cryptocurrency exchange Binance, which has resulted in a loss estimated at $6.3 billion. Trump revealed that investigations are underway to determine whether North Korea may have orchestrated the attack, with insights from Binance management suggesting that they believe the crisis is manageable.
During a press conference, Trump confirmed, “We are investigating whether the hacking attack on Binance was carried out by North Korea.” He emphasized the severity of the incident by declaring, “This was a hacking attack.”

Investigation into North Korean Involvement
Trump’s comments followed analyses conducted by blockchain analytics firms that have suggested a potential connection between North Korean hacker groups and the Binance breach. Companies such as TRM Labs and Chainalysis have indicated that a hacker group named TraderTraitor, known for its ties to North Korea, could be behind the attack.
According to TRM Labs, the techniques employed during the cyberattack bear similarities to other significant cryptocurrency thefts linked to North Korea. They expressed high confidence that the attack originated from a North Korean-affiliated group, referencing a notable incident from February 2025, which saw the theft of approximately $1.5 billion from the Bybit exchange.
Despite these assessments, the Trump administration has yet to officially assign blame to North Korea for the Binance incident. As investigations continue, the situation remains a focal point of concern for both cybersecurity experts and the cryptocurrency community.
Further updates are expected as more information becomes available from the ongoing investigations.
