Nasdaq’s Staking Move Highlights Unique Altcoin ETF News

Injective’s ETF Announcement Drives Token Surge on Nasdaq

The altcoin Injective has seen significant gains following the announcement that its ETF, set to feature a staking capability, has been approved for listing on Nasdaq. This announcement has propelled Injective’s native token, INJ, to rise approximately 6%, marking it as one of the top performers in the CoinDesk 100 index at the time of reporting.

Details of the ETF Approval

According to official regulatory filings, the Injective ETF, developed by Canary Capital, aims not only to track the price of the INJ token but also to generate network rewards through staking a substantial portion of its assets. Canary Capital expressed its objective to have at least 90% of the ETF’s assets staked under typical market conditions.

It’s noteworthy that this recent approval alters previous plans that had expected the ETF to list on the Cboe BZX under the ticker symbol “INJS.” With Nasdaq’s involvement, the fund is now poised to trade under the ticker “INJC.” However, this transition indicates that additional updates to fund documents may be necessary, and it should not be interpreted as an immediate commencement of trading.

Investment Implications and Risks

ETFs incorporating staking features offer investors a dual advantage: potential capital appreciation from token price increases and additional network rewards. However, these products come with inherent risks, including concerns about custody, validator selection, reward distribution, and possible token lock-ups.

Although the recent uptick in INJ value may reflect market anticipation, uncertainty surrounding the ETF’s launch date, its final structure, and overall investor interest remains prevalent. Thus, the immediate price increase should not be mistaken for a guarantee of the product’s long-term viability.
