Celestia Launches Major Fibre Upgrade on Mainnet
Celestia has officially rolled out its Fibre upgrade on the mainnet, marking a significant milestone as the most substantial enhancement since the network’s launch. This upgrade aims to substantially enhance the infrastructure for data accessibility, allowing blockchain applications and high-volume networks to publish data more effectively.
According to the project’s technical specifications, a nationwide test of the network layer achieved notable performance with a data transfer rate reaching 1 terabit per second. However, it’s important to clarify that this rate does not imply the mainnet operates at that capacity on a regular basis.

Enhancing Data Accessibility
The Fibre upgrade is designed to work in conjunction with Celestia’s existing data accessibility protocols. This flexibility enables developers to select various data publishing options tailored to their specific needs, facilitating a broader range of applications.
The Celestia team views this development as crucial for applications involving AI agent payments, on-chain financing, and high-traffic digital marketplaces. The ability to manage data more efficiently is anticipated to support an expanding array of blockchain use cases.
Market Response
In the wake of the upgrade announcement, the price of TIA, Celestia’s associated altcoin, has experienced a 3% increase within the last 24 hours. Despite this recent uptick, TIA’s market capitalization has drastically decreased from its previous high of approximately $3.5 billion to about $576 million at present.
