David Hoffman, co-founder of Bankless, has pointed out the significant rise in the altcoins PRL and QTC, describing them as reminiscent of the “Bitcoin clones” that surfaced during the crypto boom of 2017. In a recent post, he revealed that PRL has experienced a remarkable surge, climbing by 30% over the past week, which has led its fully diluted valuation to reach $4.2 billion.
In addition, QTC has shown even more dramatic growth, reporting a monthly increase of 300% and achieving a valuation of around $1.8 billion with a total supply of 21 million coins. Hoffman emphasized the narrative associated with these tokens, highlighting the appeal of a limited supply and how it can lead to substantial market valuations reminiscent of Bitcoin.

However, it is crucial to note that Hoffman did not provide a technical comparison to Bitcoin regarding security or use cases for these projects. He focused on the valuation aspect without diving deeper into the underlying technology.
The differences in valuation measurements are noteworthy as well. Fully diluted valuation represents the total supply’s potential value if all coins were circulating at current prices, which may not align with their actual market value. Hoffman’s analysis utilized weekly data for PRL’s performance and monthly data for QTC, meaning that not all reported gains reflect immediate market movements.
