CoinShares Identifies Two Obstacles to Bitcoin Rise

Bitcoin, the largest cryptocurrency by market capitalization, is currently trading in a tight band between $80,000 and $84,000. Despite hopes for a significant upward movement, a recent report by CoinShares highlights persistent obstacles that may hinder Bitcoin’s growth.

CoinShares notes that Bitcoin has shown resilience against declines, supported by a revival in spot buying and a more favorable market sentiment. Nonetheless, the looming concerns over high inflation and expectations of interest rate hikes in the United States are reportedly capping its potential gains.

CoinShares Identifies Two Obstacles to Bitcoin Rise

Spot Market Activity Positively Influences Bitcoin

The latest analysis from CoinShares indicates that Bitcoin’s relatively robust performance amid market volatility is largely due to an uptick in spot market buying. The report emphasizes that improving sentiments in equity markets and a reduction in short positions have also contributed to stabilizing Bitcoin’s price.

However, the recent inflation data from the US has raised significant concerns within the crypto market. The consumer price index (CPI) saw an unexpected rise in September, prompting fears regarding inflationary pressures and the implications for interest rates. This situation complicates the Federal Reserve’s ability to implement more accommodative monetary policies, thereby affecting expectations for interest rate cuts.

Market participants are vigilantly monitoring the potential for another interest rate hike scheduled for December. Currently, there is a 90.6% probability that rates will remain unchanged in October, while there’s a 68.8% likelihood that rates could increase in December.

Bitcoin’s Future Remains Uncertain

CoinShares concludes that Bitcoin’s short-term trajectory will be heavily influenced by spot demand, inflation trends, interest rate forecasts, and overall liquidity conditions. While an uptick in spot purchases could support Bitcoin’s price, uncertainties surrounding strict monetary policies present a significant barrier to sustained growth.

Ultimately, the direction of Bitcoin will depend on forthcoming economic data and policy signals from the Federal Reserve.
