A notable transaction involving a significant Ethereum investor has captured the attention of the cryptocurrency community. A whale, who originally purchased 170,000 ETH during the cryptocurrency’s initial sale in 2015 at an average price of just $0.31, transferred 13,330 ETH, valued at approximately $36.37 million, to Coinbase after six months of inactivity.
This transfer, reported by blockchain analytics platform Lookonchain, occurred when Ethereum’s price hovered around $2,728. The original investment of about $52,700 back in 2015 has now appreciated dramatically, bringing the total value of the whale’s remaining holdings to around $461 million. Following this sale, the investor profited approximately $36.21 million.

Despite the size of the transaction, which stands as a notable event in the Ethereum market, analysts suggest that it is unlikely to create significant selling pressure. At 13,330 ETH, this transaction is relatively modest compared to Ethereum’s daily trading volume, allowing the market to absorb such movements without major disruption.
According to further on-chain analysis, the wallet still possesses roughly 1,484 ETH, indicating that the investor may have redistributed other tokens acquired during the initial sale to different addresses over the years.
This development serves as a reminder of how early investors in cryptocurrencies like Ethereum can see their initial investments yield substantial returns, highlighting the volatile yet lucrative nature of the digital asset market.
