As the cryptocurrency market evolves, investor attention has turned to various altcoins, especially Zcash and Hyperliquid. However, according to Zach Pandl, head of research at Grayscale, the major smart contract networks, including Ethereum, Solana, and BNB, may present a more significant investment opportunity that investors are currently overlooking.
Shifting Focus of Investors
Pandl highlighted that while there’s growing interest in newer altcoins, investors are not adequately considering the potential of established networks like Ethereum, Solana, and BNB. He warned that in the pursuit of emerging opportunities, investors might be sidelining the foundational platforms of the crypto ecosystem. The expert underscored the enduring importance of these major networks, urging investors to recognize their value.

Although Zcash has established a solid foothold in the realm of financial privacy and Hyperliquid has emerged as a competitor in the perpetual futures space, Pandl emphasized that the long-term potential of leading smart contract networks should not be dismissed. He noted that as the use of blockchain-based financial services expands, the significance of these established networks is likely to be revisited.
Market Conditions and Future Outlook
Further reflecting on the current economic climate, Pandl expressed his expectation that the Federal Reserve is unlikely to announce another interest rate hike in October. He suggested that raising rates close to the upcoming election would be politically risky. However, he indicated that a rate increase could be considered in December. He reassured that both Bitcoin and altcoins could endure one to three smaller rate hikes, contrasting this with the substantial tightening seen in 2022 and 2023.
