Has Bitcoin Selling Wave Stopped? Glassnode Explains

Bitcoin Experiences Temporary Dip Below $80,000

Bitcoin recently dipped below the $80,000 mark following the release of positive economic data from the United States. However, this drop was short-lived as the cryptocurrency soon resumed its upward trajectory.

The brief decline has sparked discussions regarding whether Bitcoin might be establishing a new short-term low. Insights from on-chain analytics firm Glassnode provide context to this situation.

Has Bitcoin Selling Wave Stopped? Glassnode Explains

Strong Buy Orders Support Price Recovery

According to Glassnode, significant buy orders positioned at approximately $80,000 played a crucial role in supporting Bitcoin’s recovery after it fell below this threshold. The firm noted that not only were existing big buy orders executed, but new ones also appeared, indicating strong buying interest.

While Bitcoin has shown signs of gradual recovery, Glassnode cautioned that there is less buying interest below the $80,000 level compared to prior instances. This decrease in order volume may signal potential downward pressure if the price revisits this area.

Historical Context: Previous Selling Waves and Short-Term Lows

Analysis from Glassnode shows notable patterns regarding stop-loss orders during recent volatility periods in August and September. Each increase in stop-loss orders corresponded with Bitcoin establishing a short-term bottom. Following the sell-off in August, Bitcoin’s value rose back to $80,000, and a further recovery beyond $85,000 occurred after the September downturn.

Additionally, Glassnode pointed out a decline in profit-taking movements after Bitcoin’s peak in September. If this trend continues, the recent selling activity near $80,000 may signal a short-term low in the current market correction.

However, Glassnode also emphasized that a drop below the $80,000 level could heighten selling pressure and potentially lead to a test of the $78,000 mark, leaving the true market bottom uncertain at this stage.
