SkyAI Sells $138 Million in Solana Reserves to Fund Share Repurchase
SkyAI, a publicly listed company involved with the Solana treasuries, has recently made headlines by selling around 1.25 million SOL tokens, translating to approximately $138 million. This sale occurred within just five days, highlighting the scale of the company’s transaction in the cryptocurrency market.

On-chain data indicates that alongside the sale, 211,623 SOL tokens were transferred to Coinbase Prime. SkyAI confirmed the sale of approximately 1 million SOL just the day prior. Given this information, it appears the subsequent transfer of tokens was also intended for resale, bringing the company’s total sales over this short period to roughly 1.25 million SOL.
The impetus behind these sales is part of SkyAI’s broader strategy to reduce its Solana holdings as the company pursues a plan to repurchase a substantial portion of its issued shares, targeting up to 95%. The decision indicates a shift in the company’s investment strategy while addressing shareholder value.
While the sales have made a significant impact, it remains unclear whether all 211,623 SOL sent to Coinbase Prime have been sold off. During the same timeframe, the price of Solana saw a decline of about 8%, mirroring a wider trend of downturn across the cryptocurrency market.
This development in SkyAI’s approach to its cryptocurrency assets is drawing attention as investors remain wary of market volatility and the potential influence of such large-scale transactions.
