PancakeSwap Proposes Major Changes to Fee Distribution and Token Emissions
The PancakeSwap community is currently engaged in a governance vote that could lead to significant shifts in both transaction fee distribution and the production rate of its native CAKE token. Dubbed “The Flip,” this proposal aims to allocate 88% of transaction fees from the V3 and Infinity pools directly to liquidity providers, a notable increase from the existing share of 66% to 68%.
Under the proposed system, users who supply capital to liquidity pools will receive a larger portion of transaction fees, incentivizing greater participation and liquidity. In addition to this change, the proposal includes a plan to reduce daily CAKE emissions from 22,500 tokens to 7,000, marking a decrease of approximately 69%. This reduction in emissions could potentially slow the influx of new tokens into the market, though it does not guarantee an increase in CAKE’s market price.

Voting Process and Timelines
The voting on this proposal commenced on October 21 and is set to conclude on October 24. Should the community approve the changes, implementation is expected to begin gradually in November, though the new rates are not yet in effect.
Market Reaction and Performance
Prior to the vote, PancakeSwap experienced a surge in total locked assets, which rose roughly 19% within a week, climbing from $2.02 billion to $2.4 billion. Much of this growth occurred in the V3 pools, where locked assets increased from around $336 million to $739 million.
PancakeSwap remains a dominant player in the decentralized exchange market, controlling about 71% of the trading volume on the BNB Chain. In the past week alone, it facilitated a trading volume of $4.67 billion, highlighting the significance of the impending changes for both liquidity providers and CAKE holders.
