Bitcoin Analyst Stays Optimistic Post-Binance Attack
In the wake of a significant attack on Binance, Strive CEO Matt Cole expressed confidence in Bitcoin’s long-term prospects, maintaining that the incident has not altered his investment outlook. As a result of the downtrend in the cryptocurrency market, Bitcoin’s value did experience a drop but remained more resilient than Cole had initially expected.

Before the attack, Bitcoin was trading around $80,600 and fell to approximately $77,400—a decline of about 4%. Cole noted that while this decrease signifies a reduction in value, it does not definitively indicate that Bitcoin has hit its lowest point.
Future Recovery Timeline for Bitcoin
Describing the current market conditions as akin to “early spring,” Cole anticipates a recovery period for Bitcoin that could extend between 6 to 9 months. He suggests that any resurgence in Bitcoin’s price will likely be gradual, rather than a rapid return to record highs. As of October 23, he disclosed holding 43,000 BTC, emphasizing that the recent developments would not affect Strive’s long-term investment strategy in Bitcoin.
In breaking down the implications of the Binance incident, Cole compared it to a bank heist, asserting that it should not be viewed as a reflection of Bitcoin’s underlying security. This sentiment was echoed by Paul Chapman, a financial crime expert at Wirex, who clarified that the breach was a failure related to Binance’s centralized infrastructure, not the Bitcoin network itself.
Historical Context of Bitcoin Price Movements
Historically, Bitcoin has displayed varying levels of volatility in response to exchange security breaches. After a $1.5 billion attack on Bybit in 2025, Bitcoin’s price fell from $100,000 to $95,000, losing around 5%. Research from Anchorage Digital highlighted an average immediate decline of 8.3% in the 24 hours following major exchange hacks. In light of this data, the recent 4% drop in Bitcoin’s value after the Binance attack marks a relatively stable performance compared to past incidents.
Investigation into Binance Attack Continues
Ongoing investigations are probing how the Binance breach was executed. Blockchain security expert Ido Ben-Natan indicated that the attackers might have leveraged a vulnerability in Binance’s transaction signing protocols. Analysis revealed that 50 distinct authorization signatures occurred in a transaction on the Ethereum network, suggesting a potential exploit that allowed the hackers to execute unauthorized code within the wallet.
