In an unexpected announcement from his serene Wyoming home, Charles Hoskinson shared his vision for 2026. While some interpreted his words as a goodbye, he clarified that he remains deeply committed to the cryptocurrency industry. Instead, he plans to reevaluate his public presence, suggesting that it’s time for a different approach to engaging with the community.
A Shift in Focus for the Cardano Visionary
During his New Year’s livestream titled “Revamping My Journey,” Hoskinson reflected on the challenges faced in 2025, emphasizing that the cryptocurrency sector often prioritizes hype over substantial advancements. He noted that the industry strayed from its foundational goals, allowing the allure of quick gains to overshadow genuine innovation.

He took a moment to emphasize that any notion of leaving the cryptocurrency arena is untrue. “I will continue to be a part of this innovative world,” he assured his audience. “It’s the way I engage that is evolving.”
In his view, the emphasis on personal branding has created challenges in user adoption. By stepping back from the daily noise, he hopes to create more room for genuine interactions about Cardano and its projects.
According to Hoskinson, the prevailing issue is how public figures wield considerable influence over perceptions, stating, “It’s no longer about the product’s merit; it’s about who is behind it.”
The most notable change announced was his departure from X. “It’s time for me to move on,” he asserted. “I will be shifting my energies towards platforms that allow for deeper conversation. My focus is on constructive progress rather than social media theatrics.”
His new endeavors include expanding into long-form content creation and exploring platforms like Twitch for more interactive experiences. His goal is to foster community while mitigating the toxicity often found in online discussions, particularly during market downturns.
In addition to these social strategies, he described a renewed commitment to intensive project work. He mentioned drafting complex specs for a zkVM and exploring privacy features, echoing a passion for the technical side of blockchain development that he feels has been sidelined.
As 2026 unfolds, his primary objective is ambitious: “I want to create systems that a million people can utilize. And then I’ll consider how to scale that to a billion,” Hoskinson declared, underscoring his long-term vision for Midnight’s impact.
Excited for the direction we’re headed in 2026!

Personal Reflections and Future Aspirations
Beyond professional changes, Hoskinson revealed his intentions for a more balanced lifestyle in 2026. Having traveled extensively throughout 2025, he recognized the toll it took on his health and well-being. “I plan to channel my energy into quieter pursuits, focusing on mental clarity and personal development,” he noted.
He expressed enthusiasm about ongoing projects, citing milestones like the successful launch of Midnight and RealFi initiatives that provided substantial financial support in Uganda and Kenya. He expressed optimism for 2026, predicting advancements such as “the launch of Leios,” improvements in Hydra, and enhancements in Cardano’s governance structure, empowering users.
Yet, he also offered a poignant reminder, stating, “Focusing solely on financial gain detracts from what truly matters. Even in prosperity, if you get caught up in numbers alone, you have missed the deeper essence of life.”
As of now, ADA’s market position is fluctuating, trading at approximately $0.34.
